42nd Constituency Session

Last month, the Carolina Conference had their 42nd constituency session. As the Conference leadership was nominated, seconded and voted on, the reports were posted on Facebook. This is the first time we've used social media to keep people informed about what is happening at a constituency session. Mike Tucker from "Faith for Today" and "Mad About Marriage" was the guest speaker. All of his messages are availble on the Conference podcast channel, on iTunes, Google Play and the Conference Website.

The Snapchat Trend

Snapchat is a growing trend among teens and young people. It is a downloadable app that you can use to send photos, videos, and messages to friends. Snapchat is a great tool to incorporate into your church. By taking videos or photographs of worship services, community outreach events, crusades, and church fellowship, people can receive a glimpse of what your church is like. Here is a simply video that teaches beginners how to use Snapchat!

Evangelism IMPACT 2017

Evangelism Impact 2017 will be taking place this coming January 19-22. The summit aims to ‘Encourage’ participants to be fearless for Christ and teach them to ‘Encounter' and 'Engage’ people wherever they are. Shawn Boonstra, director of Voice of Prophecy, and his team of trainers will not only inspire, they will present fresh new ways to interact with people that will impact their lives for eternity. This is one thing to plan on attending; Shawn has a proven process to "get it going," as he says. If you are tired of the "same old same old" in your evangelism ministry, don’t miss this opportunity for something life changing!

8 Powerful Ways to Improve Your Church Website

Websites are increasing in importance when it comes to advertising your church! Your website is the first thing some of your visitors will see, and you want to make sure that they have a good first impression when viewing your website. Here are eight powerful ways to improve your church website from Pro Church Tools.

  1. Welcome Video: a short video to highlight key points that tell the viewer what your church is all about.
  2. I’m New Page: this is the perfect next step to give them some more information and get them signed up for an email list.
  3. A Better Domain Name: have a domain name that is easy to remember rather than having an acronym as a part of your domain name.
  4.  Beautiful Pictures: have professional photographs of your church services and events on your website to give a glimpse of what a worship service is like at your church.
  5. Accept Giving Online: include an AdventistGiving link on your website so that members and visitors can easily give to your church or the conference.
  6. Search Engine Optimization: make sure that your church’s website is search engine optimized.
  7. Hosting: have a good quality host so that your website will load quickly and Google will give you a better ranking.
  8. Email List: form real relationships between your church and members/visitors through an email list that lets them know what is going on.

We are already thinking about and planning next years' Communication Workshop. Please let us know if there is anything in particular you would like us to cover. This is a workshop for YOU, and we want to design it that way.

Article Submissions

As always, we want to hear your stories! We have made it easy for you to submit articles for publication. Every article that is submitted is used, either in the Carolina Action, in the Southern Tidings, on the conference website or on the conference Facebook page.

Where the item is published is at the discrecion of the Conference Communication Department.
