Greetings from Pittsburgh!
After 13 days of travel, Drew and I are finally recuperated and back in our office here in Pittsburgh, PA.
Everytime we travel to work on Blood Memory, we try to fit as much as possible into the trip. This time, we were fortunate to accomplish everything on our list and so much more!
Although it's difficult to sum up nearly 2 weeks of unforgetable experiences, here's a brief overview of what we were able to capture on film:
Interviews
- East Lansing, MI
- Kate Fort, Staff Attorney and Adjunct Professor, Indigenous Law & Policy Center at the Michigan State University College of Law
- Chrissi Nimmo, Assistant Attorney General, Cherokee Nation
- Minneapolis, MN
- Levi Eagle Feather, co-author of Called Home: Lost Children of the Indian Adoption Projects
- Mark Fiddler, ICWA Attorney and Blood Memory feature character
- Gary Debele, Family Law Attorney, Walling, Berg & Debele
- Sioux Falls, SD
- James Abourezk, former Senator of South Dakota and author of the Indian Child Welfare Act
Special Events
- Minneapolis, MN
- 12th Annual Gathering for Our Children and Returning Adoptees Pow Wow, hosted by the First Nations Repatriation Institute (FNRI)
- Supplemental footage of Sandy White Hawk, Founding Executive Director of FNRI and Blood Memory feature character
Behind-the-scenes photos and additional information about each of these experiences can be found on our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
While all of these film-worthy encounters were critical to the development of the Blood Memory storyline, please know that your interest in the project is equally significant.
We are extremely grateful for your support and look forward to reconnecting with you soon. In the meanatime, if you know of anyone who might also be interested in Blood Memory, please encourage them to join our mailing list.
Cheers!
