Win a set of Dominant Violin Strings! Read on for more information! Greetings Colorado ASTA Members! Welcome back to a new school year. I know you are busy with recruiting, scheduling, teaching, and on and on. I want you to know that Colorado ASTA is here to help you with your string teaching needs. Please don’t hesitate to contact anyone on the ASTA Board with questions or concerns. If you need a string specialist to come in to help with something please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m sure we can find someone to come in and help you out. Please continue to watch the Colorado ASTA Website for news and events. We will post events, important dates, and anything else our membership would like on the website. Soon, we will be starting a private teacher list on the website that should really help your students find a private teacher in their neighborhood. Additionally, we will start sending out a monthly newsletter to keep you informed of all of the ASTA events locally and nationally. We will no longer send out massive amounts of emails to you. Instead, we will take all of that information and put it into one document. If you would like an event included in this newsletter, please send it to coloradoastawebmaster@gmail.com by the 15th of each month and this information will be included in the newsletter that will go out by the 1st of each month. The only emails that we will continue to send out will be job postings since these are time sensitive. Another exciting bit of information… In an effort to get our members to read our newsletter, we will include a secret word somewhere in the monthly newsletter. The first person to find the secret word should contact our webmaster and they will win a great prize! The first newsletter prize will be a set of Violin Dominant Strings (full sized)! Every month there will be a new word and a new prize. This month’s secret word is “Vienna”. Be the first to contact the webmaster when you find the secret word. As you all know by now, the Summer Conference had to be cancelled this last summer due to low registration numbers. I have heard from many of you how disappointed you were. We are looking into new ways to reach our members and bring wonderful workshops to you, but we need to hear from you to find out your needs and we need you to read our information! I have also heard from many of you that you would like to see the Summer Conference return and once again team up with CBA. I would love this, but it is not financially feasible. We may look at bringing the summer conference back in the future. I look forward to hearing from our Colorado ASTA membership. Please look out for our monthly newsletters and have a great school year! Sincerely – Nancy Allwein, Colorado ASTA President |

Nominations now Being Accepted for President-Elect Colorado ASTA is seeking nominations for President-Elect. What is involved and what kind of person fits the bill for President of ASTA? You need to have a passion for teaching strings. We all have that. This is why we do what we do. You need to be a leader and be willing to put in a 6 year commitment to the organization. Nominations are being accepted from now through November 7, 2015. Elections will then be held in January. Rebecca Jonas will take over as President in January (at CMEA) with the new President-Elect elected at that time. The new President-Elect will serve in this position for two years, followed by two years as President and two years as immediate Past-President. What else is involved? Monthly board meetings, three general meetings per year and daily email checking. The Colorado ASTA President needs to attend the National Conference, which if you have never done is awesome! There is monetary assistance for this event, however, a trip to Vienna is not included. The job is extremely rewarding and fun. Please contact Daryl Counsell (castarep@aol.com) if you are interested in being on the ballot. |

We're looking for a new Denver Area Representative! Due to a shift in responsibilities on the Colorado ASTA Board, there is now an opening for a new Denver Area Representative. If you would like to be a part of the Colorado ASTA board please consider volunteering for this position. According to the Colorado ASTA by-Laws, the President is responsible for appointing a new representative when an opening occurs. We would like to know about interested people before this appointment takes place. What’s involved? Attend monthly board meetings, (these take place on the third Sunday of each month), participation at CMEA, and a willingness to help out with other events as they occur. If you are interested in becoming part of the Colorado ASTA board, please contact Nancy Allwein at cameostring@gmail.com. |
