A fabulous color or a rockin haircut makes us feel great, but sometimes it's not enough, we need a little more. We need to be reminded how beautiful we all are on the inside too.

When you were young, were you ever told "I love you, You're perfect just the way you are". Do you remember how it made you feel?  Content? Secure? Happy?  Or maybe you heard, "Keep up the good work! I'm proud of you!"  Did you feel confident? encouraged? Proud of yourself?

When was the last time you heard that?

Better yet, when was the last time you told yourself that?

We teach kids that it's okay to be different, it's okay to be unique and that

 it's okay to make mistakes...

But somewhere along the line we stopped listening to our own advice. At times we become our own worst critics and start to expect perfection;  We're hard on ourselves if we mess up or not quick to learn; We pick ourselves apart in the mirror;  We beat ourselves up if we don't get a promotion or position.. and in the end our internal dialog can  become toxic.

Now think of how you view/treat your best friend?

Do They have strengths and weaknesses, do they make mistakes? What do you do for them as a friend?  Do you show support? Pick them up when they have fallen down? Do you love them regardless if they are weird/quirky?

Now Imagine if we started treating/talking to ourselves like our own best friend?

What would that look like?

Would you tell yourself "You are a funny, kind and giving person" ?

Would you tell yourself "I love you" ever chance you got?

If you made a mistake, would you tell yourself "It's okay, you will learn from this and it will make you a stronger person." ?

Would you tell yourself  "You are beautiful in this very moment being as imperfect as you are" ?

As we grow and gain our independence, we also gain the ability to make  ourselves feel safe and secure. No one else is responsible for our true happiness, only ourselves.  The sooner we start to love ourselves, the better life will be.

So start right now..

What will you choose to tell yourself today?

Whatever you choose, choose your words carefully, because you are listening.

We come in so many shapes and size, different ages, hair color, skin color,  quirks & character traits, strengths & weaknesses, thoughts & emotions.

They all make up who we are, they all make each one of us unique.

We are all beautifully flawed and ...
