April has seen lots of changes in Eeyores. Six of our ‘big’ children having reached the grand age of 2 years have now moved up to Tiggers to join their old friends. We are delighted to welcome our new little ones, some from baby room and some completely new to the Saplings family. There has been a shuffle of staff with Nancy moving to Piglets and Emma to Preschool and, although we miss them we now have three different staff joining our team. Jess B has joined us from Preschool, Jess S from Piglets and Kayleigh who has recently returned from maternity leave, bringing the gorgeous Macey with her.
We have spent lots of sunshine hours in the garden and we check the progress of the ‘Teddy Bear’ sunflower seeds that we planted on the way. The children take it in turns to water them and are enjoying watching them grow.
During the month of April we have focussed our activities on physical development. The slides, climbing frames and bikes in the garden have provided the perfect opportunity to practise balance and co-ordination along with the joy of running, jumping and, for some, acquiring the brand new skill of walking.
Inside we have been developing fine motor skills with lots of drawing, puzzles, threading and construction. We have tried to throw bean bags into boxes and have made pathways with the big wooden blocks to help with balancing. We have also enjoyed the ever popular trampoline, slide, tent and tunnel to provide the opportunity to climb, crawl and bounce.
We have nearly finished our window box wall display using finger painting and puffy paint to make yet more flowers and we are potato printing red crosses on to white bunting for St George’s Day. We will also be cooking some yummy biscuits with England flag toppers on Thursday 23rd to further celebrate our heritage.
