Matters from the Mews at

D. Thomas Fine Miniatures

Hello Miniature Enthusiasts!

Spring is almost upon us (whew!)....I wanted to reach out, say hello (hi!) and tell you about the new and exciting things happening here at D. Thomas Fine Miniatures - -  right here at the Mews in the lovely town of Hastings-on-Hudson NY.

NEW! Artisan-Led Workshop

Details are finalized and we're now gearing up for next week's workshop in faux finishing led by Mary Jane Houston.   Mary is a very talented artist with experience in consumer textiles and faux finishing (in real life!) and brings this knowledge to making fine miniatures!  We'll be learning 3 different techniques and applying them to an unfinished fireplace.  So, if you have not signed up, get in touch - there are still spaces available!

And the Winners Are!

So I was at the Philadelphia Flower Show last week and boy that show did not disappoint!  An incredible combination of miniature arts and horticulture come together for an explosion of creativity in miniature settings.  The theme this year was "the movies" and the winners included this amazing Wizard of Oz scene (in the "Fantasy" category) by the very talented Pamela Goldman:

And the winner in the "Drama Category" was Louise Krasniewicz who did an outstanding job with her Hitchcock's Rear Window scene.  I was able to get a quick interview with Louise (head on over to my YouTube channel for that) where she takes us through her creative process

Artist SpotLight/Gallery Feature:

One of my absolute favorite artists working in miniatures today is Hernan Buljevich from Buenos Aires. His fascination with miniatures started when making scale models at university while studying for his degree in architecture.  He uses mixed mediums to create highly detailed landmark pubs and restaurants in miniature, mostly for clients in Spain.

I'm THRILLED to announce that Hernan will be showcasing his newest works at the D. Thomas Fine Miniatures Gallery (his U.S. debut!) as part of the RiverArts Studio Tour scheduled for the weekend of April 25th and 26th in the historic Hudson Rivertowns. Check my Facebook page for details and updates on this really exciting event!

NEW for Spring!

These just in....an assortment of hand painted oils by IGMA Artisan Josephine Meyers.  Her miniature works are TDF! and must-have as part of your collection or miniature scene.

Until Next Time!
