Hawaii Parkinson Association is proud to announce a new exercise group!

Parkinson's Bike Exercise Group

 Sunday Mornings at 9 AM

First ride will be Sunday, June 10th

Meet at Lagoon Drive parking lot
See the flyer below and the group leader ~ Richard Weinstein's story

Parkinson's Bike Exercise Group leader, Richard Weinstein, was diagnosed with PD in March 2015 and it took him a couple of years to find his footing struggling with his new reality. Then, on Labor Day 2017, he hopped on a biki from a biki station near his condo and was able to ride 2 miles. He started testing himself, each time adding a little extra distance to his Sunday bike ride, and ultimately got up to 15 miles all around the streets of Honolulu. He then purchased his own bike and starting training every Sunday morning on Lagoon Drive, where the triathletes train, with a goal to ride 20 miles in the Haleiwa Metric Century Ride on April 29, 2018.

He attended the Parkinson’s Symposium on April 28, 2018 and the following morning was the Haleiwa Ride. After successfully riding 20 miles and accomplishing his goal, his next goal was to start the Parkinson’s Bike Exercise Group to support others. Biking has helped him to improve his condition and he believes others can benefit from his experience.

Come Join Richard and others at the NEW Parkinson’s Bike Exercise Group for their inaugural ride June 10!  This group will meet every Sunday morning at Lagoon Drive Parking Lot at 9am. One lap from the parking lot with a turnaround at Keehi Lagoon Park and back is 4.5 miles.  This group is open to everyone! Visit the groups Facebook page here
