Thank you for being a friend!

Let's keep in touch

GDPR changes

As many of you may know, on 25th May new data protection regulations (GDPR) become enforceable. One of the things that they cover is the use of email databases. You have received this newsletter because you are on our database, and have been in touch with us and received information in the past. Having taken advice, the Foundation takes the view that, as a charitable trust, we can continue to send you information without the need for you to specifically "opt in". We're not selling you anything, other than good news! It is what the regulations call a "legitimate purpose". You can always opt out, and these newsletters will always contain a link to do so at the bottom, but of course we don't want to lose any friends! Anyway, enough of the legal stuff, while we have your attention here is some more good news...!

Facebook, Twitter, and Website

While we are talking about keeping in touch, it is essential that we increase our social media following. We would encourage you to share this newsletter with your friends and family and ask them to like the Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, visit the website, and share away! All the links are at the bottom of the page as well.

Grant Applications always open!

It is really heartwarming to see that good things are being done in the name of the Foundation. The Trustees have decided to have a rolling process of considering grant applications from young people who wish to pursue their passions, rather than at set times. Please spread the news, and encourage worthy candidates to submit an application using the online form, link below!

We will be sending out a special edition of the Newsletter soon, with details on all the grants awarded, and the great work being done by out Foundation Ambassadors. Another great reason to stay in touch, and keep fundraising....!

Volunteers needed!

As you will all know, the Foundation runs on a completely volunteer basis. That means that every penny donated is used to fund the work of the Foundation, which is great! The down side to that is, there is lots of work to do. We are looking for volunteers who will give a couple of hours a month to help with the admin. This might mean typing a newsletter, helping fill in forms and sending out letters, getting our Gift Aid back from the tax man, that sort of thing. Nothing complicated, but the kind of thing that takes up time. To apply, there is no need for a formal CV, just send an email to info@jamesahernfoundation.org and we will take it from there!

Foundation fundraisers

More great work being done raising funds for the Foundation:

2018 kicked off with a great start thanks to Mike Gold and his dry January, raising over £1200. With Katherine Lockley he also held a cake bake at work to keep the crumbs coming in... thank you so much Mike and Katherine!

Tough Mudder - Adam Gayton and Sanjoy Roy battled over a tough course in very warm conditions to complete this event and raise money for the Foundation. Thank you guys!

Too many people to mention also made very kind donations in memory of James for his birthday on 10th March, including his grandad Spyros who turned 80 on the same day this year. Thank you all x

In the near future, Angie Bishop will be cycling the Ride London and raising money for the Foundation, more details to follow on the Facebook page but thank you Angie!

300 Spartans

As you know, from last year we changed the 300 Spartans so that people continue to make a modest £2 per number monthly donation to the Foundation. In return, they will still get their name in lights as a supporter on the website, and will get VIP invitations and discounts at Foundation events.

The Foundation benefits by the collection of 25% on the donations by way of Gift Aid, and the regular income helps us plan for the future. We hope you will continue to support us, and encourage your friends to become Spartans too! Please use the links below to check the 300 Spartans page, and if you haven't already, fill in the online Gift Aid page so we can collect the tax back!
