Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and summer vacations!
Something to keep in mind is that sometimes when we are having fun we forget our phones or misplace them and can't find them again. This issue raises awareness on available phone setting to "Find My Device" as well as September which is National Preparedness Month (NRM).
Cyber, Emergency Response, and Critical Infrastructure Awareness season is right around the corner! For those who are looking to start preparing, here are the months to keep in mind:
- September: National Preparedness Month
- October: Cyber Security awareness Month
- November: Critical Infrastructure Security & Resilience Month
Sharing is caring :)

Preparing for September National Preparedness Month (NPM)
Due to the success of last year’s theme, “Don’t Wait, Communicate” will be returning this to NPM this September. National Preparedness Month serves as a reminder that we must take action to prepare, now and throughout the year, for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live, work, learn and socialize. Now is the time to talk about being ready and preparing for the unexpected.
Note: The week themes are the same however the awareness ideas have been adjusted for the cyber emergencies that we need to be prepared for.
- Week 1: Multigenerational Preparedness (Sept 4-10)
With identity theft disproportionatly affecting children and elderly this is a good week to talk to our loved ones about how to stay safe online and how to protect their identities.
- Week 2: Community Service (Sept 11-17)
Great week for community awareness through workshops and lectures to local schools, places of worship, your local gym etc.
- Week 3: Individual Preparedness (Sept 18-24)
Focus on raising awareness on the importance of personal device updating and digital maintenance. Also a great opportunity to raise awareness about including digital assets and digital accounts to wills in the event of death. Not enough is said about this issue.
- Week 4: Lead up to National PrepareAthon Day (Sept 25-30)
Fun pop-up activities in the office or schools could include trivia on best cyber practicies. Also games on finding digital "contraband" in a scenario (physical or theoretical). Cyber story telling (even 5-10 minutes) can be a great way to raise awareness and a perfect way to get everyone prepared for October! --> Cyber Security Awareness Month!
Stay tuned for next month's issue which will include resources
for the big cyber awareness month!
