Med4Dev: Hundreds Hack Affordable Healthcare |

For over 36 hours, more than 700 particiapants and 96 teams across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Tel Aviv came together in a non-stop hackathon to arrive at breakthrough affordable tech solutions for India’s poor and lower-middle class. Featured below are three of the 16 teams in Tel Aviv, that worked tirelessly, to develop affordable healthcare solutions for India’s most pressing healthcare challenges. Now that the hackathon has concluded and the winners have been chosen, a select few of the successful teams are encouraged to continue for a subsequent 45-day Mentorship Program, with industry experts in both India and Israel. These top tier teams are also given the opportunity to apply to a host of accelerator programs, such as the Pears Challenge, located in Tel Aviv. |

2 Israeli teams took home the gold! Team E with their unique mobile solution to monitor infant weight, with real-time information and Team X, with an easy to use android app for quick diagnosis of hearing impairments, that works in all locations - even those without internet access. The special “Israeli Favorite Prize”, awarded by our sponsor eHealth Ventures, went to Team A, which developed a solution for drug adherence. Stay tuned... Amaizz, is an agritech startup developing solutions to combat post harvest losses among farmers in the developing world was founded in 2015, through the Pears Challenge. Post-harvest loss is an urgent problem, with an enormous amount of agricultural produce going to waste every year due to mishandling - caused by lack of means and knowledge. Amaizz recently completed construction of their first major solution, ‘Asufa’, an innovative drying and disinfection facility - without the need for electricity. ‘Asufa’ is expected to significantly reduce post-harvest losses for farmers in the developing world. Amaizz is starting the testing period this week and soon piloting in Africa and Asia. |
