Podcasting: Broadening Your Audience
Some of you already know what Podcasts are. For those of you who do not, it is audio recordings that can be downloaded, sometimes for a fee and sometimes for free, that are like miniture radio programs. Here at the conference office, we have been trying to find a more cost effective way to distribute our audio recordings of our different events and make them available for FREE to our members. We have three different Podcasting channels available through iTunes and we are working on making them available through GooglePlay as well.
Basically what is needed is some type of audio editing software (Mac and PC have some FREE easy to use options), a way to host an RSS audio feed (we use the cheapest package on buzzsprout.com) and a free Apple ID to link to iTunes. So...how can this be implimented into local churches? Most of our churches already record the pastor's sermons, either audio or video streaming. Take the audio of just the sermons and upload them as a Podcast. When you upload it to your channel, you then refresh your iTunes channel and the sermon is then available on iTunes.
For more information, you can either contact Courtney Herod, the Associate Communication Director here at the conference office...or...YouTube has lots of different tutorial focusing on how to get started.
PodOmatic has a FREE hositing package and a PRO package that costs. The BuzzSprout teared package we have, which isn't the highest level, is better than the PRO package with PodOmatic. Just one of the many options out there. Here is a Tutorial on how to set up a PodOmatic account.
