Stable Perspectives
From Horse Discovery ~  Summer issue

Welcome friends, to this ‘summer’ newsletter. It sure has felt like summer even though it’s only early June. The horses have wild daisies in the pastures and the asparagus and rhubarb have been bursting from the garden with gusto. We’ve even succumbed to the shade of the hammock a couple times in the heat this past week!

I share bittersweet news for those we haven’t been in touch with since our spring newsletter. In April, we suddenly had to say good bye to Yankee - our long time friend and most recently, wise teacher. We think Yankee had a stroke or blood clot as he suddenly couldn’t walk and had lost the ability to move his legs. It was a beautiful sunny day, and it was strange that he chose to stay in the field rather than join in our FEEL session. Once the session was over, the other horses joined him and were running their muzzles along his body, as if trying to move blocked energy. Koala even reared and put his front hooves on Yankee’s neck. We were thankful this all happened in the daytime, when we were home and he didn’t have to suffer. He was the leader of the herd his physical presence is greatly missed. I’ll post more on the blog about this experience and our observations of how the rest of the herd has been grieving his loss.

Summer with the Horses!

We've set our calendar of events and are excited for the summer ahead.

The first event, an Art Show in our barn,  is happening because of Barney, our newest horse. He connected us with Manuela Stefan, an equine photographer who travels the world to capture the beauty of horses.

Full details on summer events are on our event page, with highlights below.

We continue to offer private sessions Monday - Wednesday and on the weekends by appointment. Ask us about our 2 for 1 special!

Dandelion Day Winners!

Horse Discovery and The Equine Link teamed up for a fun day at Peterborough’s health and wellness fair on May 30. It was so interesting to see how Sarah, the mini horse, reacted to a wide cross-section of people. At times she connected deeply with a person, other moments she'd be grazing on the dandelions in the grass. What a wonderful partner she was!

Congratulations to the winners of our draw for a complimentary FEEL session:

Karen Liu-Crosby

Margot Smith

I look forward to introducing you both to the horses later this month.
