And you may not know about all the events we offer, so we’ve launched a new website—a one-stop shop for adventures, challenges, and good times with the ones you love. Check it out! |

We’re going South! Rev3 Adventure’s first-ever Bartram’s Wildwood race series features a menu of adventure races for all skill levels in Columbia County, Georgia on November 7, 2015: Bartram’s Wildwood Epic 26-Hour Adventure Race features fast and smooth trails, technical single-track, amazing water views, and welcome shade courtesy of the area’s famous live oaks. The goal for soloists and teams is to find as many checkpoints as possible in the fastest time possible via trekking, mountain biking, and paddling. This Epic event is a USARA national qualifier. Bartram’s Wildwood Strong 6–10-Hour Adventure Race, a perfect mix of our Sprint- and Epic-length adventure race, will have participants canoeing on the lake, mountain biking, and trekking using basic trail navigation skills. This off-road triathlon is great for anyone who can read a trail map and wants to challenge themselves with some excellent outdoor fun. Bartram’s Wildwood 2–4-Hour Sprint Adventure is designed for beginner adventure racers or anyone who seeks the excitement of adventure racing in a shorter timeframe. Teams of 2 or 3 follow a map by foot and bike to find checkpoints located on the trails or at easily recognizable topographical features. Fun mental and/or physical challenges, such as paddle boarding or completing a puzzle, will arise at some point in there, too. Find out more and register at rev3adventure.com. |

It’s 13.1 Time! According to Runner’s World magazine the half-marathon is the fastest growing distance among races. Since the year 2000 registrants for half-marathons has quadrupled. In 2000 there were an estimated 482,000 participants; now it’s over 1,960,000. So, why run 13.1 miles? It’s a manageable distance. It can take just 12 weeks to successfully complete the training and your longest run won’t exceed 2 hours. It’s a challenge. It may not be a marathon, but it’s still a challenge. The amount of half-marathons offered has exploded. You can count on it that a perfect half-marathon is being offered when and where you want to run. And last but not least Rev3 Adventure is offering up its very own half-marathon series beginning at Valleyfair this May. Visit www.runandriderace.com to learn more and sign up. How to Fuel for the Half-Marathon Distance Always take in adequate fuel the day before your long run. Your body while at rest has time to absorb nutrients you eat. This allows you to rely on those nutrients the next day during your long run. Remember to fuel at regular intervals. Do not wait until you need fuel to gas up. It’s no fun for your muscles to play catch up. Start training your body to eat and drink regularly and before you need to. For example, fueling every 40–45 minutes might work well. Don’t be afraid to try something new. You may have used a gel that just didn’t work for you in the past. There are always new products on the market, so give something else a try. Always know what products will be offered on the race course so you will know if you can rely on them on race day. Are you ready? Rev3 Adventure thinks you are. Sign up today! For the health of it, Vanessa Vanessa Spiller is a Certified Nutritionist and Personal Trainer located in Centreville, VA. |
