The first official meeting of For One Child of India took place on Friday July 11, 2014. We have come such a long way already, and we have so far to go! Thank you to the Committee members whose enthusiasm and vision will surely create a program that will make a difference in the lives of many children of India.
I was fortunate to visit India in January 2014. I hope to be able to say that it changed my life forever. In this land of opposites, poverty exists in the very place that the astonishing beauty will take your breath away. Families live simply. Parents work very hard. When one is concentrating on meeting their family's daily needs, they cannot spend a lot of time anticipating the future. But, just as in America, parents want a better life for their children. They work and pray for a way out of the poverty so that their children will have opportunity. For One Child of India exists to assist families in finding that path to a better future.
We believe that education is that path.
What was most amazing during my experience there was the generosity of those who have so little to spare. How can I be reluctant to help when I have been the recipient of such willing kindness? For One Child of India Committee will work to promote awareness of the needs of these children and families in South India.
We hope you will see too, what a difference you can make.
Let me share with you the family who inspires me to be a more compassionate and generous Christian. I hope that they will inspire you too!
Nandri! Nandri!
